[FAQ Series] Making Purchases While Mystery Shopping
A common misconception with mystery shopping is that you’ll need to make purchases all the time, in every single survey. With Mobee, this is rarely the case. While there are some Missions that will ask you to make a purchase, you won’t find this often.
Today, we’re going to dive into all of the most frequently asked questions about making purchases while mystery shopping. We’re debunking all of the rumors to help you with your Missions. So, without further ado, are you ready to learn more about making purchases?
What Will I Have to Buy?
This question can be difficult to answer because the answer can vary from Mission to Mission. Most times, if a purchase is required, you’ll be asked to make a purchase that is less than $5. In the past, we’ve asked you to buy items for $1 at a Dollar Store or Dollar Tree location, while other times we’ve asked you to buy something from a fast food restaurant like McDonalds or Starbucks. Either option offers you an inexpensive purchase requirement Mission.
If a purchase is required, you’ll know about it before beginning the Mission. Based on the store or location it can be easy to make an assumption about the potential cost. In addition, those Missions will provide greater rewards in order to balance out the cost of the purchase.
Will I Be Refunded?
If there is a purchase requirement, Mobee does not refund this cost in the traditional sense. Missions with a purchase requirement are usually worth more points than other Missions in order to “refund” that cost. If you purchase anything in addition to the required item(s), those products are also not eligible for a refund.
Again, there are not many Missions with a purchase requirement. You’ll be aware of the Missions with this requirement, which will help you decide if you’d like to complete them.
How Often Will I Need to Make a Purchase?
The short answer to this question is, you won’t need to make a purchase often … or at all if you don’t want to. Most of our Missions will be asking you about products, displays, store conditions, or your opinion on different brands/products. Because not all Missions have a purchase requirement, you have the power to decide if you’d like to complete Missions that do. You could use Mobee (and be a top earner, at that) without ever needing to make a purchase.
Again, these purchases are often very low-priced items and can sometimes be items that you may want or need. If you’re set against making a purchase, however, avoiding these Missions can be a simple task.
Do I Need to Complete a Mystery Shopping Mission with a Purchase Requirement?
No, you do not! We do not require anyone to complete a Mission with a purchase requirement. The Missions you decide to complete are completely up to you. It is important to keep in mind that Missions with a purchase requirement are usually listed at a higher value than other Missions, however.
If you decide to complete a Mission with a purchase requirement, then you will need to make the purchase in order to have your Mission approved. What’s better than a little shopping while you’re mystery shopping, though.
