The Scavenger Hunt Across the City

This is a guest post written by one of our Mobee Bees, Shushmita Hoque.

I’m not really much of a writer. In fact, the last time I remember writing anything like this was probably back in high school. When Mobee gave me the opportunity to write a post,  I couldn’t resist. I first started using Mobee as a way to earn some side cash when I first moved to Massachusetts. I had just quit my job, and it was the summer before I started school again, so I had time to kill. Why not try something new?

Little did I know that Mobee would soon become one of my favorite apps. For me, it has been a fantastic experience. I was exploring a new city AND making money at the same time. I quickly learned where every Stop and Shop, Walmart, and Shaw’s near me was located. To this day, I still use those stores as landmarks when I’m learning directions or trying to help others find where they’re going.

Why Mobee?

I’ve always been someone who enjoys scavenger hunts. Typically, I’m the one making them, but it’s fun to do them as well! I enjoy searching for displays in stores because it gives me a chance to stretch my legs and learn where items are located in the store. I love that I can even get some quick shopping done on the side. I’ve found that taking pictures can occasionally be tricky, but something that has worked for me is pretending like I’m taking a selfie. In this day and age, it’s not likely someone will notice!

An activity I expected to last only through the summer ended up lasting for a year. To this day, I continue to use Mobee whenever I have the opportunity to do so. I’ve been able to earn a lot of rewards, and have used that for bills, groceries, and Christmas presents. There are few things better than the feeling of seeing a $0.00 purchase on Amazon because of the gift cards you’ve earned with Mobee.

On days when there are a lot of high-value missions around, I like to go around town with a friend. We’re usually able to earn enough Mobee rewards to pay for a night out at a nice restaurant later in the evening. I always have something I can use the money for, whether it be school or something else.

My Mystery Shopping Tips

If I could recommend anything, I would say to work toward those achievements – they really add up! It’s a great feeling to be surprised with those extra points when you submit a mission (whether it’s 300 or 1000 points). Another perk of using Mobee comes when I’m traveling. If I ever go out of town or head back to my home state of Georgia, I can check the app to get those sweet travel bonuses. I’ve even done a mission in Canada! I love how Mobee has found its way into so many places.

Overall, yes, I’ve had a blip here and there as my missions do get rejected every now and then. But usually, that’s because I didn’t read the directions as closely as I should have. Now, I keep an eye out for those weekly emails for the tips and tricks to get better. I also use the support team to help me complete my Missions. I’m glad that the support team is so responsive, and I’ve never had an issue.

It feels kind of strange to be so thankful for an app, but I truly am. Not only do I get to feel a part of a community, but I make some money, and I’ve learned so much the city while traveling from store to store. I know all the roads to avoid, where all the traffic is, and all the shortcuts. As someone who’s bad with directions, I appreciate that Mobee has helped me get to know my city – one Stop and Shop at a time.
