Mobee Insights: Get Smart (Home Devices)
Smart devices are taking the world by storm. There are so many new, different, and innovative products available on the market. With so many products to choose from, we couldn’t help but wonder what the Mobee bees thought of smart and smart home devices.
In this blog, we’ll be diving into your smart and smart home device preferences. Are you ready to see what your Anywhere Mission results look like? I know I am!
Smart Home Products
49% of survey participants own some form of Smart device. Of those people, the largest majority (37 percent) own 3-5 Smart devices. This is closely followed by 1 device (25 percent), 2 devices (21 percent), 6-10 devices (13 percent) and 10+ devices (4 percent). It seems like the popular consensus is if you own one, you likely have more than one present.
Now, since Smart devices are very popular, which devices were the most popular among our survey participants?
iPad (47 percent)
Amazon Echo/Amazon Dot/Other Alexa Enabled Devices (47 percent)
- iPad (47 percent)
- Amazon Echo/Amazon Dot/Other Alexa Enabled Device (47 percent)
- Google Home (25 percent)
- Amazon Fire Tablet (23 percent)
- Other Brand Smart TV (22 percent)
- So Many More!
Smart Devices are continually improving. As technology continues to enhance, there’s no telling what Smart Devices we may have coming in the future. Will you be an early adopter of any new Smart devices?
Associate Assistance
Often, consumers are found purchasing expensive Smart Devices in stores rather than online. Typically this is so that they’ll have the opportunity to test the product, compare it to others, and learn more about the capabilities from the available sales associates. Do the survey participants agree with this thought process, though?
To begin, 68 percent of survey participants purchased their Smart home devices in-store. Of that percent, 15 percent made their in-store purchase after online research. Only 29 percent of customers who purchased items in-store received help from an associate, however. Diving deeper into that percentage, 56 percent of those people found that interaction to be helpful in their purchase decision. As you can see, opinions on this topic are all over the map. It’s up to each individual person to decide what information and assistance is most beneficial for them when making a big purchase like a smart home product.
The most helpful reasons for associate interaction according to our survey participants are:
- They told me about other products or brands I wasn’t aware of (42 percent)
- They told me about other similar products that were on sale (35 percent)
- They advised me against certain products or brands (12 percent)
- They Didn’t have the product I wanted in stock and gave me an alternate option (3 percent)
- Other (8 percent)
There you have it! Whether you prefer some form of employee interaction or not is up to you. There are benefits to both sides of the spectrum, and that decision is based solely on your personal preferences.
No Smart Home Products
Now we need to take a look at the survey participants who do not own any smart devices, considering it’s slightly more of
- They’re too expensive (40 percent)
- Privacy concerns (24 percent)
- I don’t want one (24 percent)
- Other (12 percent)
With every new product, there can be positive aspects, but there can also be negatives. Determining which will have a greater impact on your purchase decision is up to you. When you’re making a big purchase, which factors have the biggest impact on your decision? Let us know in the comments below!
Closing Thoughts
Smart devices have taken the world by storm. As technology continues to advance, Smart products are growing and advancing with it. The possibilities are endless. Before we go, we’ll leave you with one final question: as technology continues to advance, do the positives begin to outweigh the negative or vice-versa?
